Today we come to a close in our journey of understanding Why Christmas? As we look towards the end of this Christmas narrative in Lk 2: v.21-40 we are going to continue answering the question “Why Christmas” and the answer we are going to discover is that Christmas changes everything.
Today I want talk about the motives behind Christmas—WHY THE FIRST CHRISTMAS EVER HAPPENED. I want to talk about what motivated the first Christmas because it’s incredibly special and significant.
Today we are going to discover that Christmas is important because it reminds us that God is for us he is on our side. No matter what challenges we are facing, no matter what opportunity we may have in front of us, we can trust that God is for us, he is on our side.
How good are you at waiting on God? How much patience do you have when you’re praying and longing for God to move or act in your life? Where would you place yourself on the “waiting scale” then? Lower? Higher?
Let’s be honest, it’s easy to blow through the Christmas season just going through the motions. It’s easy for the traditions and celebrations of Christmas to distract us from the real “why” of Christmas. This series “Why Christmas” is designed to keep that from happening. This series is designed to keep your heart and soul clearly in touch with the “Why” of Christmas. What makes it special on the core level, the heart level, the soul level of our lives. Today, I want to show you an event that occurred at the first Christmas in the Gospel of Matthew 1:18-24. I want to make three observations from this event to highlight the specialness of Christmas.
