Children’s Ministry

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”—3 JOHN 1:4

Nursery care and Sunday School are offered during all services for ages newborn – 5th grade. To learn more about our Junior High and High School groups, please check-out our Youth Ministries page.  Children’s and Youth Ministry staff are carefully selected, trained, screened and back ground checked through our Safe Place program. They serve because they love God and have a heart for kids and their families.

Kids are thrilled to discover their place in God’s big story through age-appropriate, hands-on experiences and lessons that get them reading the Bible. Every Sunday, children take home a ‘Pre-Teach’ called, HomeFront Weekly. This resource encourages parents to use the week to intentionally dig into God’s Word with their children. HomeFront Weekly introduces the passages and concepts of the lesson that will be reviewed the following Sunday. The idea is to put parents in the Biblical role of teacher and to use Sunday School as a resource for review, mentorship and fellowship with peers.

For parents needing a space to hang out with their child for any reason (nursing, antsy-pants, separation anxiety, diaper/clothing change, etc.). Located in FLC 3, right next to the nursery. Open during all services, with televised sermon in room.

Foothill Shepherds exists to include families
with special needs in the Church of the Foothills faith community.

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them,
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14

We are a young ministry with big hearts and huge hopes to expand. Currently, we provide aides for kids with special needs, so parents can attend service knowing that their child is being cared for in a safe, loving environment. Aides are available for children with special needs, preschool thru high school, during the 9:30am and 11am Sunday services and adult classes. Aides can also be sought for our weekly Awana clubs and Sports Camp week in the summer.

Please contact Foothill Shepherds Director, Maggie Davis, if interested in requesting services for your child, or if interested in serving with Foothill Shepherds. Intake and volunteer forms are available at the bottom of this section. All Foothill Shepherds aides and volunteers have been carefully screened, Safe Place trained, and passed a background check. All aides are CPR certified and have received additional special needs training through local seminars.  Foothill Shepherds Director, Maggie Davis, is currently pursuing a degree in education.

NEW: Respite Nights are being planned quarterly, and are open to children with special needs and all of their siblings. Kids are dropped off for a free night of fun activity at Church of the Foothills, while parents spend the evening however they please!
