Children and Youth

If you have children you'll be interested in the following notes from our Director of Children's Ministries Dee Michel and our Youth Pastor Phil Christiansen.

 

 

Birth - 5th Grade

COTF'S Children and Youth ministries provides an environment for your child from birth through highschool to grow in his or love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

First Hour

Nursery (Birth - 2 Years)

Newborns, infants and toddlers are cared for by our qualifiled staff in a safe and loving environment. Upon arrival your child and his or her belongings are assigned a number which enables us to notify you in the sacturary with our numeric paging system.

2 and 3 Year-Olds

This class is a great transition class for kids just coming out of the nursery because it mixes free play with a structured teaching time. In this class your child will learn and experience the love of Jesus through play, singing, prayer, and Bible story time. This teaching time prepares them for the 4 - K class. For the younger members of the class or for ones that have recently moved up from the nursery, a paging number can be assigned if needed.

4 Years - Kindegarten

Here pre-schoolers will continue to participate in this class all the way through kindergarten. As attention span and academics skills increase, so does the length of the teaching time. Here the Bible is continued to be taught as God's true word and Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Bible memorization is also encouraged and rewarded.

1st Grade

Our first grade class is a class all its own. Here the kids continue to be taught about the truth of God's word and His Son Jesus while at the same time are given the opportunity to practice there increasing reading and writing skills which is preparing them for the 2nd & 3rd grade class.

2nd and 3rd Grade

In this class the Biblical foundation continues to be built upon. Since the kids are becoming more confident readers, they can read the Bible on their own.In this class the teachers help the children find, read, and apply God's truth for themselves.

4th and 5th Grade

Here the truth of God's word continues to be poured into these kids which not only helps them to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus but also helps prepare them for the choices and decisions they will soon be faced with a pre-teen. This class also prepares them for the junior high class.

2nd Hour

Children in the 1st through 5th grades attend Children's Church. This is a combined class where the kids are given the opportunity to worship through singing and Bible teaching.

The program for the younger children remains the same for the second hour.

6th - 12th Grades
